Report written by: Gareth, Emma-Louise and a bunch of other people voicing their opinion.

Yes the rumour you've heard is true. On Sunday 9 th of October Millwall Venus played a historical match at Fortress Vicky, our first ever win (not counting the time we played ourselves and half of us won). You may find it hard to believe but we, the queens of the bar, the masters of rude songs, actually played a full- time match of rugby and scored more tries than the other team. Hopefully, but very unlikely, this will lead to better turnout at training, a lot of good publicity in the East End Life, some new players and better results in the future.

Despite having to wait an extra hour for the opposition we went out on the pitch and were, for once switched on from the start. We put good pressure on from the start and our first try came from debut prop Toni Cummins in the 7 th minute of the first half. After that we relaxed a bit and kept that score for the rest of the half.

We Venus girls are quite well known for getting better and more focused and organised as the game goes on and that was true today as well. We kept putting Hastings under pressure with a superior kicking-game and some good run-ups from the pack. Even though the Hastings pack was slightly stronger we managed to control them and keep possession of the ball. Our defensive game is getting better and we are not missing as many tackles as we normally do. And any mistakes we made were repaired by fullback Trudy and we managed to keep the enemies away from our try area throughout the match, something we've never achieved before.

Following the half time whistle and a quick penalty taken by Venus the ball found Emma-Louise's hands and was touched down between the posts for a celebrated try.

For once we had a fairly strong and fast backline and an overlap but unfortunately it was rarely used as it was a forwards game but more tries would have been scored if the ball had been played wide.

The third try came from experienced fullback Trudy who scored in the corner after a cheeky chip. After a while of disorganised play Toni held on to the ball and carried it over the try line for her second try. 5 minutes later our brilliant scrumhalf Jo got the ball out of a ruck and scored the 5 th and final try for Millwall this sunny and surprisingly hot day.

Well done girls, I'm sure we're all proud and we did after all get rewarded with getting to see Cheese do the Haka in  his pants.
